The Story

So, I bought a smoker for my now husband. He did so much research on how to set up your smoker and how to smoke meat. I had no idea how many videos and blogs are out there on BBQ and they are all self proclaimed to be the best BBQ. I love that!! Smoked meat should have a high following and a strong desire to do it justice. Anyway, back to the sauce. Through his research he discovered Rudy’s, a BBQ joint out of Texas. Based on what he found, they had the best BBQ sauce. So, we ordered a bottle. IT…WAS…DELICIOUS!! It wasn’t the cheapest to buy online and I like to cook what we eat. So, I was on the hunt to replicate. I found a recipe online that said it was a clone on the sauce. So, I gave it a whirl. It was absolutely close, but needed some minor tweaks. Once I got that flavor to match, I then tweaked to our preferred spice level. That day, the sun came up, a pot was dirtied and we had a “no going back” BBQ sauce. We don’t buy BBQ sauce and we are skeptical when we show up for smoked meat and there is store bought BBQ sauce. There is no excuse for that…make your own. Take a leap of faith and try this recipe! Oh, and my husband’s smoked pulled pork, really is the best…yeah, I said it.
