About 20 years ago I found the most amazing lasagna recipe. Part of the recipe was a homemade marinara. I remember when I made the lasagna, I was amazed at how much better lasagna tasted when the marinara was homemade. Everything else about that recipe was pretty general to lasagna. But THAT SAUCE!! I have NEVER bought marinara since that day. I’ve made a few tweaks over the years to more suit mine and my families taste. I use this for meat sauce, pink sauce, dipping sauce…I think I would slather it on an apple if that made any sense. But it doesn’t. Don’t do that. But, if you currently buy marinara, try this recipe and see if you don’t have the same reaction of shaking your head at the glass jars in the pasta grocery aisle. Now, it makes a good amount of sauce, but I double the recipe whenever I make it. Then portion it out into quart freezer bags and keep in the freezer until I need it.
